This rod was made for a personal friend of Toms and I think the light tip was intended for very fast and accurate delivery of midges while the heavier tip was designed for throwing crickets and large drys
The rod is marked as an 8wt on the tube and a 7wt on the rod though I would definitely call it a 6wt
